SITEM GROUP
WHO WE ARE
From Sitem Spa to Sitem Group
Sitem Spa was founded in 1974, in Cannaiola di Trevi, Umbria, where the group’s registered and administrative headquarters are still located today. It was a strategic location at the time, close to the Terni steelworks.
After a difficult start, given the economic climate in which it operated, Maria Landa Scarca (née Bartoloni) took over the management of the company. Thanks to her great spirit of sacrifice and keen intuition, she launched the company and led it to a prominent national position as a manufacturer of magnetic laminations for the white goods sector (primarily refrigerator compressors and washing machines).
In 2000, her son, Giovanni Bartoloni, was appointed CEO and began a serious expansion of the company, bringing it from 100 to the 800 employees who are now part of the group.
In 2002, two companies located in Limbiate, Milan, were acquired: one specialized in the blanking of magnetic sheet metal and the other (the former Zaninelli), a toolmaking company with decades of experience in the design and production of progressive blanking dies.
In 2004 a new production facility was founded in Slovakia, in Spisska Nova Ves, to meet the needs of customers who had moved to Eastern Europe.
In 2006 Decoup is acquired, a company in the Champagne region south of Paris that produces transformer laminations, C-cores and toroids for the French and German markets.
In 2009, Despite the global economic recession, the Canegrate (MI) plant, formerly Framag S.p.A., was acquired. This plant specializes in the production of magnetic laminations and die-cast aluminum components for electric motors, primarily for the Central European market, with a particular focus on Germany. The expansion of the product range has allowed Sitem to offer its customers a complete and integrated solution: from the supply of raw materials (steel or aluminum) to the finished component, machined and/or painted, ready for direct assembly on the customer’s production lines.
In 2010, At the same time as the founder Mrs. Scarca passed away, Engineer Marco Bartoloni, son of Engineer Giovanni, joined the company, and still represents the third generation of the family in the company.
At the end of 2016 the acquisition of Stanzwerk AG, a Swiss company near Zurich, was completed. Stanzwerk AG is well-known on the market for its high quality standards and precision in the production of electrical laminations, especially for the automotive sector.
In 2024 Sitem Group joins Tempel Steel, a Worthington Steel company, a leading North American steel processing company and an emerging global leader.
In 2025 the German company Nagold, formerly part of Tempel, has been transferred to the Sitem Group.
In 2026 the group will continue its exponential growth, further consolidating its presence and strengthening its position in its core markets. Worthington Steel announced the acquisition of Kloeckner & Co. (expected to close in the second half of 2026), a transaction that will make it the second-largest steel service center company in North America.
